About a year ago I turned to the internet in search of ways to earn a living online. The recording studio I was working at had just shut up shop, the label I was involved with had recently fallen apart and I figured I needed a break from music for a while.

After digging around on some internet message boards I found out about ‘Internet Marketing’. I ended up signing up for some ‘online coaching program’ and registered this domain www.davedunnonline.com.

Over the next couple of months I discovered what a crock of shit most internet marketing is. Especially in the ‘Make Money Online’ arena. Eventually I ended up pulling this blog down in dismay, discouraged at the thought of the sheer amount of crap that is peddled in the hopes of getting people to buy crap so that they can be sold even more crap. I wasn’t down with it and I didn’t think it was what I could call ‘job satisfaction’.

But I did learn a lot. I realised what makes the internet work and why certain sites place certain adverts in certain places. I realised I’d been gamed a few times before I even discovered internet marketing; by some savvy marketers simply ‘showing me something for FREE’. (No you can’t ever win at roulette and the Docs Money site is an absolute joke)

Over the past year I have absorbed ‘internet marketing’ till it came out of my ears. I’ve had to abandon 3 email addresses due to the sheer amount of lists that I signed up with at the beginning. It actually became overwhelming.

One of the lowest points was about six months into it all. I’d be getting an email from some marketer or other every 5 minutes. I went and vented my frustrations on some guys blog.

When someone asks you …

Whats Your Biggest Frustration About Building an Online Business??

And you’re way past the point of frustration, then you begin to think a bit crazy. You know, Dan sorry about that mate, but I’m sure you got over it.

Needless to say I stepped back from the online marketing and did some self help… and studied, and studied and studied some more.

Maybe I’ll post up what I’ve been studying on here. Maybe I’ll just leave this blog as someplace to post things I find interesting.

Until my next post. Peace!
